Pigeon Sculpture

A sculpture has been commissioned of a very special type of pigeon

JOEL has been searching for images of pigeons in flight and has also been sent many examples of the Colom.

This is very similar to the chosen pose, but the bird will be looking up, not landing.

We have also been sent the dimensions of the pigeon and the armature  is being designed.

The main armature has been made up and is ready for the  next development

The mesh for the  wings and wire for the neck are in place and then the first clay profile base is laid down

Then the profile is built up , the  musculature and  form under the  feathers is studied and  developed

You can see the deep keel of the breast bone which carries the flying muscles

Next a base layer is carefully added to the  wing mesh and  the details of the feathers studied, also the  face and feet studied and gradually  formed

The sky view is developing,

though one wing needs to be matched to the other
